Misfuel risk High

Diesel Focus fleet cars are at serious risk from petrol misfuel. EcoBoost petrol models cannot use diesel. HP diesel pump damage if engine runs on petrol mix.

If the engine was not started

Full tank fuel extraction and filter replacement often sufficient on diesel if caught early.

If the engine was started

Expect HP fuel pump, injectors, and rail inspection on diesel; petrol models may need injector clean if wrong grade burned.

Access procedure

  1. If petrol in diesel: do not start; do not turn ignition on
  2. Relieve pressure; disconnect battery
  3. Remove rear seat cushion; open pump access
  4. Drain tank; replace diesel fuel filter if contaminated
  5. Prime low-pressure circuit per Ford before cranking
  6. If engine was run, inspect HP pump and injectors per Ford diagnostics
