Misfuel risk Moderate

UK Levorg is petrol or e-BOXER hybrid — Subaru does not sell new diesels in the UK. Dominant error is diesel in petrol; turbo models (WRX, Levorg) need prompt drainage before boost pressurises contaminated fuel.

If the engine was not started

Do not start the engine or turn the ignition to RUN. Do not drive. Arrange GBIFDA-certified drainage before contamination reaches the high-pressure pump. Keep receipts for contaminated fuel disposal (Environment Agency / SEPA / NRW / NIEA duty of care).

If the engine was started

Diesel in petrol after driving may require injector cleaning, spark plug renewal, and catalytic converter check. Turbo engines (WRX, Levorg): inspect turbo oil lines if fuel dilution suspected.

Access procedure

  1. Disconnect battery negative; ignition off.
  2. Release fuel pressure per SSM (fuse pull or scan tool command where specified).
  3. Remove rear seat and access pump/sender cover.
  4. Extract fuel via module using fuel cart; do not rely on filler siphoning.
  5. Replace filter if contaminated; refill with correct UK petrol grade (E10 where compatible).
  6. Check for leaks and clear EVAP-related codes if present.

Frequently asked questions

What if I put diesel in my Subaru Levorg?

Do not start — extract fuel from the tank via the pump module. UK Subarus are petrol; even small diesel volumes can prevent reliable ignition.

Does e-BOXER Levorg have two fuel types?

e-BOXER uses a single petrol tank plus high-voltage battery — misfuel rules apply only to the petrol tank.

Subaru warranty and misfuel?

Excluded. Use a GBIFDA-certified technician and retain waste transfer notes.
