⚠️ Hino overview
Hino Motors is Toyota Group’s commercial-vehicle brand. Hino rigid and tractor units are used in the UK haulage and bus sectors, almost exclusively diesel with selective catalytic reduction (AdBlue). Misfuel events are rare but high-impact; recovery must separate diesel, petrol and AdBlue systems.

Fuel system notes
- Primary fuel is diesel; AdBlue is a separate tank — never drain AdBlue into the diesel tank.
- Large steel tanks usually require chassis access or tank lowering per Hino workshop manual.
- Dual tanks on some rigids — identify which tank was filled before pumping.

Frequently asked questions
What if petrol was added to a Hino diesel tank?
Do not run the engine. Petrol in diesel can damage injectors and the high-pressure pump. Drain both tanks if cross-connected, replace filters, and flush lines per Hino data.
Does AdBlue contamination count as misfuel?
Pouring AdBlue into diesel (or diesel into AdBlue) is a separate contamination event. Flush the affected system and replace components as Hino prescribes; SCR damage can result if the engine is run.
