Misfuel risk Moderate

Less common UK model but used in chauffeur and fleet channels where driver swaps occur.

If the engine was not started

Do not start the engine. Leave the ignition off, avoid turning the key to ON (which can prime the fuel pump). Have the vehicle recovered to a workshop. Extract fuel from the tank and flush the fuel system using Toyota-prescribed access before attempting to start.

If the engine was started

If the engine was run on contaminated fuel, expect extended work: tank fuel extraction, new fuel filter(s), fuel line purge, and inspection of high-pressure pump and injectors per Toyota service data. Hybrid models may also need inverter cooling circuit checks if wrong fluid entered any reservoir.

Access procedure

  1. Relieve fuel pressure.
  2. Disconnect battery; HV procedure on hybrid.
  3. Remove rear seat and access panel.
  4. Disconnect module and drain.
  5. Replace filter if needed.
  6. Refill correct petrol.
  7. Prime and verify fuel trims.
